THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS...

I'm just chilling in Erin's apartment in East Village and the doorbell rings every 10 minutes... Knock, knock.. who's there? A rental broker... taking prospective renters around the hood... I guess people in NYC are time poor.

This got me to thinking... we can hire someone to find us an apartment, a job or a date but can we hire someone to find us happiness?

MOVE OVER FACEBOOK... LOOKBOOK IS HERE

I'm so obsessed with the Lookbook fashion site.. http://lookbook.nu/ It's fashion forward styling from real people in real time... I heart the post headers, the stylized pics, the loving comments from other cats and just in general the idea of an outlet for people to explore their creativity with fashion.

I even have style crushes on a few regular kids like Andy T http://lookbook.nu/look/199195-NERD-ME and Zina D http://lookbook.nu/look/189056-Last-Days

Have fun finding your own style queen

Keeping the LaLa Love flowing..

Well.. my girl is in NYC, living the next part of her adventures and I'm still in sunny LA. Had my neighbours birthday on the weekend at Bardot, a club in Hollywood. A local band, Nico Vega, were playing. No Black Lips but lots of fun anyway. :)
Although it made me remember why I never venture in to the city on a Saturday night, far too much chaos for me. And that's saying something.
Here are some happy snaps.

"CAUSE 'I'M LEAVING ON A JET PLANE... DON'T KNOW WHEN I'LL BE BACK AGAIN"

It's been a whirlwind 72 hours since I left La La land... I went to this place called Lit Lounge on my first night in town, spent the day in Williamsburg on Saturday followed by dinner that night and more playing in the city that never sleeps. On Sunday I went with my friend Erin and her fabulous boy to the East River Park in Williamsburg to see The Black Lips play. Such a sweet Sunday Funday every week over Summer...  Girl Talk, Grizzly Bear and Beach House are playing in coming weeks... stay tuned!

TO THE BEST MEMORIES A GIRL COULD WISH FOR...

Ok here it goes...

I think I had too big a w/end cause I'm feeling really emotional all of a sudden bout leaving L.A, you and some great friends I've made...

It's been a tough slog but we have given it a nice little nudge!

I'll miss the red house, the crazy parties, drinking Mimosa's on Sunday Funday, picnics on my bedroom floor, the jam room= Jumping Jack Flash,  the Edendale, the Cha Cha and the silly and wild times..

Remember when....
- we crashed into a police car
- we got caught in the middle of a SWAT team siege outside of West Hollywood apartment with 3 gunmen on loose
- we nearly got booked J walking
- I was electrocuted in Weho apartment
- The bathroom floor collapsed
- We went to Coachella.. ahhhhh that day! Forever etched in my memory lying in the field
-  finally.. our trip around America... B.L.E.S.S

You will be missed.. along with the rest of the Brat pack... Kathleen, Mekala, G, Joe, Will, Jen, Cynthia... the list goes on.. you know who you are!

LOVE YOU 4 EVER

LIKE TWO PEAS IN A POD.

This week is a sad week for me.. I'm loosing my travel buddy, my best friend, my sister to the big schmoke of New York City and I am staying in LA. I'm so happy for her as I think it's more her scene over there but I'm being selfish this week cause I'm going to miss the shit outta her funny arse.
Seriously though, this is just a shout out to my girl, I couldn't ask for a better mate. Thanks for understanding me, being loyal and just for being there. I'm going to miss you so much but it'll give me an excuse to come over to NY.

BACK HOME in LA LA Land..

So, after having the tour cut short by a week and a bit, we are now back home, in LA. Back to normal life. Well, what is normal life really? Just back to some sort of normality, ie not waking up in a new state or city everyday. Which we actually got pretty used to after a while. Almost tired of, which is kinda weird.
Alicia is now contemplating the big move to NYC to con
quer the marketing industry but I am staying put in LA to follow my life long acting dreams and discover more of the city, as I finally have my own house and no longer have to live out of suitcases on friends floors! What a wonderful feeling.
Last night we went to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, final resting place of Charlie Chaplin Jnr and Victor Fleming, famed director of 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'Gone with the Wind'. They screen old school films here during the Summer and a DJ plays. Last night was 'The Wicker Man', the 1973 version. It's a UK cult classic, centering on the disappearance of a teenage girl and the discovery of a pagan cult amongst society. What a trip thi
s film was! Many awkward moments, one in particular, where a guy and a girl were seducing one another through a wall and another that slugs were mating in...?? weird but so funny! It was a really nice night in LA and it's always cool to watch a movie outside, with a bunch of strangers. Reminded me of the Moonlight cinemas back home. Perfect way to spend Sunday Funday!

A scene from the film.

WE HEART AUSTIN... xx

Our final day of the BACARDI tour took us to Austin Texas.

We had a crew dinner at Imperia which is an asian fusion restaurant. Highly recommended!! The food was AMAZING and we had our first Sake bomb experience.. So American...

Afterwards, we took a tuk tuk type contraption to Emo's to see Rhode Island band Deertick play.

Emo's + Lone Star + 100 Degree Heat = Sweaty Beatties

Austin... We will miss you.

CHANGE OF PLANS...

So.. We have found out the tour has come to an end... We can no longer play in Texas because of a change in the liquor laws which means no shows in Austin or Dallas.

Boooooooooo!

THE 'BIG EASY'...

New Orleans, Louisianna- The term 'Big Easy' is believed to come from a dance hall by that name which existed in the early 1900s. Some say that it might have been the dance hall, an actual dance, or possibly even a person who could do the dance. At the turn of the century, jazz musicians were fond of nicknames, and might have used the 'Big Easy' for an uptown dance hall. Eventually the nickname transferred to the city as a whole, referring to the gentle pace of life and somewhat lax morals for which New Orleans is known...

In other words this place is CRAZY!!!!

In the 4 days we had the privilege of staying on Bourbon St we managed to party like a hot mess, get our past lives read by a pyschic and go on a vampire tour of the French quarter.

New Orleans definitely has a strange vibe to it... There is some, otherworldly feel about the city.. it's strange but good at the same time.

Maybe we were just bitten by a vampire ;-)

WHAT'S THE TIME MR WOLF?

  1. What dies if you kill time?
  2. If time is on your side what is on your other side?
  3. If it's time to go what time is it?

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY AMERICA

We got to spend our first 4th of July with Mickey Mouse and Uncle Sam ;-)

Orlando, Florida- Pulled into the most bizarre humid weather town thus far... poured with rain and then cleared within minutes... wondered around downtown Disneyworld before our gig @ the House of Blues began with A-Trak, Jazzy Jeff and Matt & Kim.

'I HAVE A DREAM....'

Atlanta, Georgia- We had the best day strolling around Little Five Points neighbourhood which houses great vintage, record stores and cute cafe's...

The Vortex serves some of the best burgers in a pseudo biker-bar setting where rock and alternative music blasts and patrons enter through the facade of a giant human skull.

Fast facts= Atlanta is famous for being the birthplace of the famous Martin Luther King, Jnr. It is also the birthplace of the popular soft drink Coca-Cola

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
